The Joy Of Sewing

Sisterhood New Look

I have benefited much from learning to sew for myself. Sewing can be a relaxing, inexpensive and rewarding hobby. I don't sew as much as I should, but when I do sit down at my sewing machine, I am lost in a world of my own. Working my imagination, I try to envision the final results. Sometimes I play soft music; other times it is quiet. I meditate on the word of YAHWEH. During these times I relax and dispel stress.

Sometimes it is difficult to find garments appropriate for kodesh wear. The dress is too short or the blouse is too low cut, showing a woman's cleavage. Here in the sisterhood knowing how to sew your own clothing is rewarding, because if you can't find something to wear in the store you can make it yourself.

I recently completed a two piece outfit, a jacket and skirt that turned out quite nicely. My fabric came from Walmart. It cost one dollar a yard. I bought six yards of fabric at a total of six dollars. The zipper I used was recycled from another garment and the thread was donated. I made a two piece outfit for the cost of six dollars.

By making your own garments you can reap the reward of a tailor fit, at an inexpensive price. You may find sewing for yourself to be a relaxing and enjoyable new hobby.
