YAHWEH Was With Me
My name is Angela. I am 33 years
old. When I had my first child I was 17 years old. I was still in high school,
unmarried and living with my mother. I felt very alone because I didn't get much
help from the father of my child. I had no license, no car and no way of getting
around. I finished high school 2 years later and was
pregnant with my second child. Still no husband, but this time I didn't feel
alone. YAHWEH saved me!
I was 19 years old, a single mother of a 2 year old daughter and one on the way. But I wasn't alone! YAHWEH was with me and I had new Brothers and Sisters in the faith who were very supportive. In the beginning my Pastor would counsel me often. He would build up my self-esteem by telling me I was young and intelligent enough to do anything I desired to do. I was only 19 years old at the time, but having two children and being on welfare made me feel a lot older than I was.
I had no secretarial skills or any type of job training
so I was expecting some type of mill or warehouse job. But Pastor Roberts
encouraged me to take some typing classes and apply for an office job. I obeyed
and was soon hired as an office assistant. Because I had to work, I spent very
little time with my children.
Then came the day I moved to Victory Community! It is such a blessing raising children in a community. There's always someone to talk to when you are unsure about how to handle a situation. Always someone who has already gone through it and can advise you on what or what not to do. There are Sisters my age, Mothers, and grandmothers available to talk to who are always willing to give advice.
As far as my children are concerned, there are other teenagers they can share their problems with as well as older Sisters who speak righteously and give holy advice. Here I don't have to worry about counselors who encourage teenagers to sin, dress, and speak unrighteous, because everyone here is trying to please YAHWEH. All the older Sisters look out for the younger Sisters and help the mothers to watch the way the young daughters dress, speak and so forth.
I thank YAHWEH for help. I thank YAHWEH I am blessed to be able to raise my children here in a community where my children aren't pressured or influenced by the world. They are spared from a lot of peer pressures and filth that you would find in the public schools and I bless YAHWEH for that!
