Nurture The Academic And The Spiritual Growth Of YAHWEH'S Young People

Praise YAHWEH!  I am Sister Laura.  As a home-schooling mother who fellowships with the saints of YAHWEH'S Victory Community, I find it an awesome, challenging, and sobering responsibility that YAHWEH has charged me with; to nurture not only the academic, but also the spiritual growth of HIS young people.  In today’s society, which is wrought with immoral ideas, attitudes, and a “NO FEAR” mind set of gratifying our every whim in the guise of “exercising our freedoms,” it is a blessing to be able, through the Word of YAHWEH, to guide and counsel young people along a path that leads not only to a moral, upstanding, selfless character in this life, but also to eternal peace and salvation in YAHWEH through YAHSHUA, MESSIYAH.

There are numerous social problems that young people deal with in this age, and peer pressure can cause them to make wrong decisions, leading to drug abuse, promiscuity, and other undesirable life trends.  In this society pressure is put on the individual to have a liberal, all-enveloping attitude toward all lifestyles, religions, etc.  Anyone taking a stand against these attitudes is labeled a “phobic” or “intolerant”.  The Word of YAHWEH plainly states laws and rules by which we are to live.  No law or attitude that man projects can change this.  Young people must make a choice.  Either fear society and peers and buckle under to their creeds, or fear YAHWEH and keep HIS Commandments at the risk of being ostracized by the “liberal-minded” of this world.

In my lifetime I have done many things displeasing to YAHWEH.  I thank HIM for HIS mercy in bringing me out of darkness into HIS marvelous light.  I thank HIM for forgiveness.  I thank HIM for revealing HIS truth. Many argue that experience is the best teacher, and that parents shouldn’t shelter their children from life’s problems.  There will always be decisions that young people have to make for themselves, but there are many pitfalls that need not be stumbled into with wise counsel from someone who has been there. Would you not warn a man who was about to walk over a cliff, or be run down by a train?  Through inexperience, youth, and an absence of someone who cared enough to warn them, many young people have stumbled into situations that have scarred their lives forever, some never to arise from trouble.  YAHWEH, in HIS Word, constantly warns and reproves.  Sometimes these admonitions are not pleasant at that moment, but oh, what peaceable life-giving fruit they yield!

The crux of the whole matter is that we, as mentors and examples, must not only instruct YAHWEH’s young people, but we must live according to the laws and principles that we extol.  The only way that we can do this is if we truly believe in the Scriptures and love and trust YAHWEH with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength.  Community life is a daily sharing of yourself with others, and so young people can see and discern if we are honestly “sold-out” to MESSIYAH.  Those in authority have the duty and obligation to lead moral, YAHWEH-fearing lives before all men.

Society constantly spouts, “we must save the children, they are the future.”  How can we “save” the children when “The harvest is past, the summer is ended and we are not saved?  YermeYah (Jeremiah) 8:20.  Tehillim (Psalms) 3:8 tells us that salvation belongs to YAHWEH.  RomiYah-(Romans) 10:13 tells us that whoever calls on the NAME of YAHWEH shall be saved.  The only hope for our young people is in YAHWEH, through YAHSHUA MESSIYAH.  As counselors and teacher’s abiding in YAHWEH’S Word of Truth, we can help them along the way.

YeshaYahu (Isaiah) 30:20,21 “...yet shall not your teachers be removed into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers: And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk you in it...”

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
She seeks wool, and flax, and works willingly with her hands.
She lays her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
