A Great Opportunity To Sew

If you are a person who enjoy the opportunity to experiment with different types of fabrics and pattern, then you are one who enjoy sewing for the pleasure of it.

there are several reasons why the sisters at Tshuwah Community sew some of their clothes. here are just a few of the reasons, " to save money," " because there is nothing suitable in stores" " sewing gives me time to unwind," "I have small children and buying clothes for them is very expensive."

No matter what the reasons are, they all point back to Torah, Acts 9:36-43 tells the account of a woman named Dorcas and how she sewed for all the widows. Her acts of kindness was known in the land of Joppa.IMG_5983.JPG

I am a beginner sewer. I have not mastered the art of laying down a piece of cloth and cutting out a garment. However I did use a skirt pattern for the one  I am wearing in this picture. It is pattern # 5914. This pattern comes in two sizes, 6- 12 and 14- 22. You can purchase it at your local Wal-mart. My fabric also came from Wal-mart; one dollar a yard. This skirt cost less than  nine dollars to make.

The next time you want something meaningful to do, be a Dorcas!

Shalom,

Sister Joanne Honeycutt
