Raising My Children Within The Community

by Sister Ebony

Sister Ebony and childrenBeing a young and inexperienced mother, with my first child was a real eye opener. I have lived at Victory Community with my husband for five years. At times raising two children can be frustrating, but with the help of the mothers here, I have found joy in raising my daughters. Balancing my time between my duties, my husband, and my daughters, requires much discipline. I enjoy making my daughters pretty, but I realize that their spirit must be beautiful as well. So in developing their character I could not spare the rod. I had to learn how to discipline my girls according by the Torah. I have received wise counsel and advice from Sister Jean and Ima Fran. They have taught me how to be the best mother to my daughters and how to love my husband-man.

With the help of others here at Victory, being a mother can be joyous and a serious responsibility. No, I'm not perfect, but I am learning perfection. I pray that the older my daughters get, the wiser I will become in raising them. As Sister Jean says, "No one can make your children beautiful but you."

It is a blessing raising my daughters here at Victory Community. Here there is shalom and many motherly kodesh role models whom I can pattern myself after. I have found them to be saints that watch over your children with great care. How thankful I am that the hand of YAHWEH abides here to protect this body of Israel.
